Borel Fire Relief
Thank you for helping
The Borel Fire was the largest fire in Kern County history burning 60,000 acres. It started burning on July 24th and devastated the town of Havilah burning homes and historic buildings. It also burned many homes in the Piute Ranches and Piute Meadows communities.
Our family was very fortunate to have only lost grazing land to the Borel Fire. Our family, livestock, and homes are safe. We were humbled by the number of people reaching out to ask how they could help. We organized a fundraiser to collect donations for those who were impacted by the Borel Fire. Donations were collected from August 5th to September 8th raising $28,860 for our community. These funds will go directly to our neighbors in need. If you know of someone in need please e-mail howdy@RankinBeef.com.
We held a drawing on September 8, 2024 and Sherry Nichols was the lucky winner of the Quarter Beef Animal (100+ lbs beef) from Rankin Ranch. We sincerely appreciate everyone who contributed to this fundraiser to support our community.
If you are interested in donating please consider the Kern Community Foundation (link below) who continues to collect monetary donations to support the community.
